DIM & SUS

Dim & Sus is my current entrepreneurial pursuit. A boutique sunglasses brand that doesn't take it’s self too seriously. The current slogan is 'they're only sunglasses'. The mission is to sell designer cool, without the designer cost. However, I am currently trying to expand the product offering beyond just sunglasses. The brand serves as a creative outlet for myself and a way to collaborate with other creatives. Please see speaker protoype to see what we are currently working on and hope to bring to market in 2024.

The business has an ecommerce store as well as few wholesale retailers.

Our guiding quote is 'A genius is the one most like himself" - Theloniuous Monk.

BAD LEMONADE

Amidst the global pandemic, I found myself living in Vancouver spending too much time on my phone and craving a social life again. I channelled my momentary interest in acid western films and my economic stimulus cheque into a limited run of pink cowboy hats adorned with yin-yangs. This lead to the creation of the brand Bad Lemonade.

The aim of Bad Lemonade is to design products that are fun and create aesthetic joy. The brand understands the social media nature of it's consumers.  It attempts to be a real life "filter" by creating a selfie kit. The hats also ship with my custom designed temporary face tattoos.

Inspired by the subverse and the outlandish, the goal is to embrace the ridiculous nature of the hat and let it serve as a catalyst for ridiculous times.

WEST COAST WEIRD OFF

As inspired young adolescents, my friends and I endeavoured to create our own surf clothing brand called 'Cold Feet Club'. The brand drew inspiration from what could be described as alternative approaches to surfing. It strived to differentiate itself from competitive surfing by drawing inspiration from the retro soul surfers.

Enthusiastic about our brand, we created our own event entitled The West Coast Weird Off. The two day surf festival/ anti contest featured various events such as soft-top costume contest and 'anything but a board'.

We had friends visit from abroad, 45 participants and tremendous community support in the form of volunteers and donations.

We gave away prizes that included surfboards, wetsuits, hotel-stays and sky-diving. The afterparty also featured free beer, free tattoos and a surprise performance from d-list celebrity B.Rich performing his 2013 Canadian hit song Out For A Rip.
